Here is a parent-friendly overview of what Grade 1 learners study this term, based on the learning competencies in the three-term Budget of Work, with simple ways to help at home.
Grade 1 Math, Term 2
- Ordering numbers up to 100
- Skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s
- Tens and ones (place value)
- Adding up to 100 (no regrouping)
- Pictographs
- Subtraction within 20 and below 100
Try this at home:
- Ordering Numbers and Skip Counting: Count by 5s while going up the stairs or by 10s using coins (₱10).
- Tens and Ones: Bundle 10 sticks with a rubber band to make a ten. Kids get it fast when they can touch it.
- Adding Numbers up to 100: Let your child line up the numbers so the ones are under the ones.

Grade 1 Pagbasa at Wika, Term 2
- Tunog, pantig at pagbuo ng salita
- Sight words; mga salita tungkol sa pamilya at paaralan
- Ngalan, kilos at naglalarawan

- Pag-unawa sa maikling kuwento
Try this at home:
- Tunog at Pantig: Gumawa ng flashcards ng pantig (ma, ba, sa, ka) at bumuo ng salita kasama ang bata.

A simple weekly routine
- Monday to Thursday: 15 minutes a day, one short lesson and a few practice items.
